Hey all!

I'll let Bob share some of the stats of this launch event.. but I just wanted
to thank all of those involved! Both Rackspace and VBI pitched in for food
and paying to bring underprivileged kids out to this special event.. and it
was really awesome! I must say.. over all, it went surprisingly well!

I've posted some of my personal pictures from the launch on our fbook page..
so you all please feel free to do the same! Our page is here:
https://www.facebook.com/NRVRocketry

Here are some stats around the event:
* We had at or just over 300 in attendance (from our free food and free
drawing give-away ticket counts)

* VBI paid to bus out and feed the rual school kids from Franklin County(!!)

* Rackspace also paid and volunteered to serve the free food (prepared for us
by Tom at 'Eat the Family Dog'

* Other volunteer student groups include the Aerospace students from AIAA and
SEDS, as well as the VTARA Ham radio club (who did great radio comms and
parking/traffic management).
Thank you all for you help in pulling off this event!

* Between the donation bucket, book/DVD sales, and new club registrations, we
raised over $420 for future community launch and STEM related events!
(watch our public google-calendar here: http://nrvr.org/calendar.html )

My favorite launch moment was when I walked up to Homer at 1:45 to remind him
of his planned 1pm departure to catch the big VT game.. saying, "Homer, are
you going to wrap it up to go catch the tail end of the game you came to town
for?".. to which he replied, "No, it's just a game. I think I'll stay here
with you all." That was awesome! He's such a sincerely nice guy who really
stops to listen to and ask questions of each fan. Awesome experience. Here's
a pic of him and my family:

p.s. there's going to be a write up on our event in the Montgomery County
"News Messenger" this Wednesday! Get the physical paper at Kroger/711 or hit
their news listings here: http://ourvalley.org/category/newspapers/news-
messenger/
p.p.s. Fbook pics are fine, but what do you all recommend for an easy way to
upload photos? Would you prefer to have a club flickr account?
